Rail ramps and equipment depots in Saint Louis

Saint Louis container drayage operates on both sides of the Mississippi. BNSF Lindenwood and NS Luther Yard are Missouri references; CSX Rose Lake and UP Dupo are in Illinois. The equipment directory reaches from north Saint Louis to Sauget, Granite City, East Saint Louis, and Mascoutah.

That geography makes the full route important. A Missouri rail pickup, Illinois receiver, and separate depot return should all be visible before the truck is scheduled. The shared Saint Louis market name should not hide the river crossing or the final equipment destination.

These are distinct facilities. Keep the railroad, terminal name, and state on the order, particularly when a customer uses a shorthand such as Lindenwood, Luther, Rose Lake, or Dupo.

Identify the four rail origins

BNSF Lindenwood is the Wellington Avenue reference in Saint Louis. The railroad’s identify its Saint Louis intermodal facility. Use Lindenwood and the BNSF name together when reconciling the release so it cannot be confused with the north-side NS operation.

Norfolk Southern’s Saint Louis intermodal terminal at Luther Yard uses 333 East Carrie Avenue in . Carry that terminal address and the railroad release into dispatch. An equipment yard elsewhere in north Saint Louis may be part of the same shipment’s return plan, but it is a separate truck handoff.

CSX Rose Lake is recorded at 3900 Roselake Road in East Saint Louis. Preserve the Illinois address when an order says CSX Saint Louis. It is separate from the BNSF and NS terminals in Missouri and from UP Dupo farther south.

UP Dupo is the Illinois-side reference recorded on Carondelet Avenue. The publishes Highway 3 and State Street and supplies a detailed Dupo driver map. Use the railroad’s current entrance instructions for the actual visit; a general property address should not substitute for the truck gate.

If two documents name different Saint Louis ramps, resolve the discrepancy with the arranging party before dispatch. The carrier cannot choose a different railroad terminal simply because it offers a more convenient approach to the receiver.

Equipment yards are separate receiving decisions

Affton is the north Saint Louis equipment reference at 420 Gimblin Road. Its provides a booking-validation route and describes container-yard, trucking, repair, and cargo services. Use the applicable release or booking acceptance for the transaction rather than relying on a general description of the yard.

ConGlobal in Sauget, Depot Connect International in Granite City, FGM in East Saint Louis, and Jung in Mascoutah are separate Illinois references. Each should be identified by its full address on an equipment instruction. A different depot can change both the truck route and the handling needed.

For a return, confirm whether the operator accepts the container and chassis together. For a grounded collection, establish the lift window and chassis supply. If storage is needed, agree on the dates and how the next truck obtains release. A yard’s presence in the regional directory does not reserve space or authorize every owner’s equipment.

An equipment return in Evansville adds a southern Indiana destination to the trip. If an instruction calls for that southern Indiana stop, show it as a separate destination rather than describing it as a Saint Louis depot visit.

Agricultural and industrial transfers need a cargo plan

Affton’s published services include transferring agricultural products from truck or railcar into containers, with equipment coordination through its depot relationships. It also describes bulk-material packaging and warehouse work. Those are useful local capabilities to investigate when cargo needs more than an intact-container delivery.

For an agricultural export, provide the commodity, quantity, loading form, container requirement, booking, and receiving deadline. Ask the handling provider to confirm its loading process and any required inspection arrangements for the shipment. A provider’s general capability does not establish that the planned cargo and timing have been accepted.

For packaged or industrial material, describe each handling stage. Identify what arrives, what leaves, and whether the goods wait in storage. A bulk railcar transfer, pallet unload, and machinery transload require different equipment and labor. Obtain the actual work location as well as the company name.

The explains how to scope those handoffs. In a Saint Louis order, connect that cargo work to the empty release before loading or the empty return after stripping.

Schedule the river-crossing itinerary as one job

Give the carrier the receiver’s exact address, appointment, and unloading method. A live unload and a drop can create different equipment schedules even when the loaded route is identical. For a drop, identify who reports the unit empty and the notice needed for collection.

Add any approved holding yard and the authorized final equipment destinations. A pre-pull from an Illinois ramp for a later Missouri receiver appointment should identify where the container waits and whether it stays on its chassis. Ask the carrier to include that service when proposing the itinerary.

Review truck routing and current conditions for the actual crossing and gate approach. Do not assume a straight-line distance across the river describes the practical truck movement. The explains how to use terminal-area traffic as planning context alongside operator instructions.
