Rail ramps and equipment depots in Kansas City
Kansas City’s rail-container market crosses state lines and reaches southwest to Edgerton. Its terminals include BNSF Logistics Park Kansas City, CPKC’s International Freight Gateway, Norfolk Southern Voltz Yard, and UP KCIT. The most important historical distinction is UP’s move from Neff on Gardner Avenue to KCIT on Bayard Avenue in 2025.
For current UP intermodal planning, use the released KCIT instruction rather than an older Neff routing sheet. For every railroad, include Kansas or Missouri and the actual terminal address. The metro name alone does not identify the truck origin.

Neff’s former intermodal operation closed after the move to KCIT. Use the current terminal named on the UP release. For equipment yards operated by the same company at different addresses, confirm the particular receiving location.
UP moved its intermodal operation to Bayard Avenue
confirms the transfer from 4801 Gardner Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, to 1810 Bayard Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. It directed new ingates to KCIT and stated that the former intermodal facility would close on July 21, 2025.
The identifies Bayard Avenue and provides facility resources. KCIT and Armourdale references in present shipment paperwork should be reconciled with this Kansas-side location. An older UP page or saved contact sheet can still show Neff, so check the current release rather than assuming every published page describes an active option.
This is a location change, not simply a new marketing name at the old address. Update the truck itinerary, receiver timing assumptions, and any associated equipment stops when an order has been copied from an older Neff move. Preserve the shipment references while correcting the physical handoff.
Edgerton and the BNSF logistics district
BNSF Logistics Park Kansas City is recorded at 32880 West 191st Street in Edgerton. The describes a BNSF-served distribution and warehouse district southwest of central Kansas City. An individual warehouse in that development still needs its own delivery address and appointment.
The nearby equipment references include ITI on West 191st Street, ConGlobal on West 187th Street, and TSL on West 191st Street. The identifies its Edgerton operation at 32355 West 191st Street. The Kansas City operation is a separate yard at 5701 Kaw Drive; also gives that address under the familiar Arrowhead name. An older Speaker Road instruction needs to be checked against the operator’s current receiving location.
A BNSF pickup with a local Edgerton delivery may have a different equipment-return itinerary from a delivery across the metro. Obtain the authorized empty destination before assuming the unit can terminate at a nearby yard. If a lift or hold is required, confirm the specific service window and acceptance.
IFG and Voltz are separate Missouri origins
The CPKC International Freight Gateway is the south Kansas City reference at 3301 East 147th Street. The Mid-America Freight Coalition’s explains the former KCS name and documents CSX service at that site. Confirm the railroad and release process under the current booking.
Norfolk Southern Voltz Yard is recorded on Northeast Kimball Drive. Use the to confirm the current visit. It is a separate north-side facility, not another name for IFG or UP’s former Neff site.
For a cross-border rail product, ask the provider to identify the route and the Kansas City handoff under the booking. A railroad’s continental network does not establish that every container at its local terminal is moving across a border or that the local truck leg includes that service.
Choose the correct equipment site on either side of the metro
Beyond the Edgerton cluster, the directory includes equipment references on Kaw Drive, Kansas Avenue, Osage Avenue, Nicholson Avenue, Stilwell Street, Birmingham Road, and Great Midwest Drive. Use the city, state, operator, and street together. A request for “TSL Kansas City,” for example, leaves the receiving location unresolved.
distinguishes its Kansas Avenue, Edgerton-area, and Nicholson Avenue operations and gives separate gate and lift windows. A driver needing a container mounted should plan for the handling cutoff, not simply the last gate entry.
For a return, obtain the owner’s current designation. For a collection, match the release to the equipment type and chassis plan. For storage, agree on whether the unit remains wheeled or is grounded and how the next truck will obtain it. A change of yard can affect handling as well as mileage.
When cargo is being unloaded into a warehouse, identify that building and the outbound vehicle separately from the equipment reference. The explains the cargo-handling scope needed to arrange that work.
Review the whole Kansas City itinerary
Start with the released terminal, add the receiver’s actual premises and unloading arrangement, then include any approved holding point and final equipment destinations. A move between Edgerton and a Missouri-side customer should show the same stops in every proposal being compared.
For a dropped container, agree on who reports it empty and the notice needed for collection. For a live unload, coordinate the remaining return with its receiving window. Keep the container and chassis interchange records with the cargo-delivery paperwork so the final disposition is documented.
