Terminals, rail ramps, and equipment depots in New Orleans
New Orleans freight uses the riverfront container complex, separate railroad handoffs, and equipment locations on both sides of the Mississippi. New Orleans Terminal on Napoleon Avenue is a cargo-operator reference. The Port of New Orleans address on Port of New Orleans Place is a broader port-authority reference and should not be used as every truck’s cargo gate.
Avondale also needs precision: UP’s Avondale intermodal terminal and Avondale Global Gateway are different facilities. The operator and street address determine whether the truck is visiting a railroad facility, cargo terminal, or another agreed service.

Napoleon Avenue and the container operators
places container facilities at the Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal Complex and distinguishes breakbulk operations elsewhere along the river and Inner Harbor. A general port reference therefore needs the actual cargo handler before it becomes a truck instruction.
The port’s directs customers to its two container operators, New Orleans Terminal and Ports America. Use the operator named on the release and its linked tools to establish availability. A container at one operator should not be assumed collectible through the other’s portal or gate.
provides separate resources for cargo services, its container freight station, on-dock intermodal work, gate appointments, and RFID management. Its should be checked for the planned visit. The existence of a container freight station also does not mean every import needs to be stripped there; arrange that cargo service only when the shipment calls for it.
For an import, reconcile the unit, release status, pickup reference, and accepted visit before tying the receiver to a fixed collection. For an export, check the booked terminal and vessel receiving dates rather than applying general port hours to every cargo delivery.
Rail connections are specific physical handoffs
Port NOLA’s and the explain the region’s connections among major railroads and waterfront cargo operations. That network context does not make the individual truck origins interchangeable.
The east-bank rail facilities include CSX Gentilly on Almonaster Avenue, NS’s Florida Avenue-area facility on North Dorgenois Street, and CN in River Ridge on Hickory Avenue. Use the carrier’s current release and physical gate instructions. A legacy yard name and a present street address should be reconciled before dispatch.
identifies its Avondale intermodal facility at 100 Avondale Garden Road. It is separate from Avondale Global Gateway at 5100 River Road. An order naming only Avondale leaves the operator and transaction unresolved.
For a booked on-dock rail connection, ask where the container will next be released and whether a truck transfer is required. If a local dray is needed, identify the releasing terminal, receiving rail facility, both references, and the receiving deadline. The railroad’s presence in the port network does not establish that this particular connection is included in the ocean booking.
Cargo-handling work should identify the goods
A river cargo terminal can handle freight that does not fit a conventional ocean-container move. For machinery, steel, forest products, or another breakbulk shipment, supply piece count, packaging, dimensions, weight, and the agreed loading method. Confirm the receiver’s unloading capability before the inland carrier selects equipment.
For a warehouse transfer, state what arrives and what leaves: intact container, loose goods, pallets, railcar freight, or outbound trailer. Establish where unloading occurs, whether the cargo waits in storage, and who authorizes the next collection. A company’s warehouse and its equipment yard may have different receiving addresses.
The explains those handling decisions. Include the empty-container disposition after stripping, or authorized empty supply before export loading, so the cargo service does not leave an unresolved equipment leg.
Depots, chassis, and both sides of the river
ConGlobal’s Almonaster Avenue reference, SIX and STG on separate Old Gentilly Road addresses, and TCI on France Road are different equipment yards. provides its current operator resource. Confirm which physical yard and service the owner has assigned.
The Reserve CBSL entry is another regional location, while Avondale Global Gateway has its own cargo setting. Do not substitute either for an east-bank return because the company or city name sounds familiar. Ask the receiving operator to confirm acceptance of the actual unit and transaction.
Use for applicable chassis-location instructions, then check the box owner’s return separately. A bare chassis and container may need different destinations. If a lift is required, agree on the handling window; if the unit stays mounted, establish the chassis arrangement during the hold.
Build the receiver and return into one itinerary
Give the carrier the exact customer premises and appointment. A West Bank rail pickup, east-bank receiver, and regional equipment return should all appear in the proposed route. The carrier needs to assess the suitable crossing and approach for the load rather than a general distance across the river.
For a late-afternoon unload on the West Bank, allow for any river crossing before the assigned return yard closes. For a drop, agree on the empty-ready notice and later collection. Any approved pre-pull or storage stop should identify its location, dates, and grounded or wheeled condition.
